We look forward each year to Mom's retreat in honor of our Mom. We enjoy time together and laugh and eat and sing and eat and love the time together. This year we added one more to the fifty club. A few of us will be graduating to the 60's club before long. Who is that crazy lady with the funky hat and buck teeth? She just showed up from nowhere to wish our new fifty club member Happy Birthday......

This is what we did for Paul's birthday the first of the month.
We visited Twin Falls, saw Shoshone Falls. This was on our way back from Sun Valley. The Temple at Twin Falls. Can't wait to go to the Open House.

This is a golf course that is on the top of a mountain. All of the cart trails are done in Mutual Materials Pavers made at the Boise Plant. This is the Birthday Boy.
There are all sorts of beautiful flowers on the hills. It was a fun trip!

Piano Recital

TUCSON Adventures

Most of you probably already know that Doug and I have packed up and moved to Tucson for the summer. I know... we are crazy. Most people head down south for the winter... not us. We move down south during the blazing hot summer :)

We are down here selling security systems. It is definately hot and dry! The evenings are just the perfect temperature though. Here are a few pictures from our trip down here. We got to drive over the Hoover Dam. It was huge! These pictures don't do it justice. It really was about the only thing to see along the way here. Everything else was just dry, flat, dirt - oh, and lots of cacti. We actually drove through a forest of cacti. We never knew there was such a thing, but it even had a name & signs. I wish we would have taken a picture.

We will be down here in Tucson for a few more weeks, and then we will be heading to New Mexico near the end of June.

We love you all and hope you are doing well! Here is a picture taken just outside our apartment door. More pictures to come...

Can you just hear my buttons popping with happiness for this great accomplishment? Ty graduated with honors from Nova University (in Florida) this past week end. He was given a special award for his acedemics, outstanding character and integrity. (See all the gold robes, gold star and special OKU bandelow?)

He's worked hard, has a supportive wife and lots of HELP FROM ABOVE!

You never know what a day will bring...

While all the guys were at the Priesthood session, my cute mom had all of us girls over and both grandma's for a little girl time! It was so much fun. First off look how cute she set her table... (she always has a beautiful table setting whenever we are over for dinner!) We used to tease her about it, but now, I want my table to look just like hers it's so fun!

We ate this delicious Cornbread Salad, it was light but very filling, and for dessert we had Chocolate Chip Torte you can find both recipes Right Here
After dinner, my mom had bought everything to do pedicures, we all soaked our feet in peppermint & pomagranat oil, and used pumice stones to get the dry skin off our feet, then we painted each other's toe nails, can you believe grandma is going to be 81 this year and she has never once painted her toe nails!? It was SO much fun for us to pamper her a little!! It was so much fun to spend some time with my favorite girls, thanks mom!! (and as I'm uploading these pics, I just realized there's not a single on of my mom! She'll be glad, but I'll get her on here soon enough!)

Last Thursday Brooklyn was pretty exausted after we had gone swimming and by the time we got home, she was ready for bed. She curled up on the rocking chair and before we knew it she was standing up pulling her blanket up on top of her, she took a nasty fall (our rocker is a glider and it swivles, so she just lost her balance) she is a pretty tough little girl and usually she doesn't cry long at all, but she wouldn't move her arm and kept crying, so we thought we'd better take her in. Turns out she did have a hair line fracture, right above her elbow. She's a lefty and it just had to be her left arm.

They splinted it at the ER and then we took her in the next morning to get it casted. She is adjusting well. She is one tough little cookie! She loves to show off her cast and tell people "look at my pink" (that's what she calls it) she looked at Braxton and said "look Braston, it's so cool." Hopefully she'll only have to have it on for about 3 weeks. You never know what a day will bring!

And here's one more of our little Braxton, he's getting SO big already!! He is such a joy to us!

Holly & Zach left Saturday the 2nd and got to go see him and the birth mom. Then on Sunday at Noon they got to bring him back to the Hotel. They have to wait for Utah and Idaho to do their paperwork and then they can bring him home. Should be no later than thursday (fingers crossed) Renee' went down to Logan and saw him monday. I think he looks kind of like Maddie Cook? (Maybe it's just the hair)

GRADUATION

Doug and I have had an exciting month so far. Life couldn't be any better for the two of us. This past week, Dec. 14th, 2007, Doug and I graduated from BYU-Idaho. We were 1 of 54 couples who graduated together. What an awesome experience! I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Health Education and a minor in Physical Education. Doug graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. It feels so good to complete this wonderful milestone in our lives. We also had the opportunity to attend the graduation luncheon where Pres. Clark and Sis. Tanner from the YW General Presidency spoke. It was excellent. Here are a few pictures from graduation.

We did it! We finally graduated! Yay!

Some other good news that has come our way....I was lucky enough to get hired on at Taylorview Jr. High school teaching 8th grade Health. I will begin on Jan. 2nd. I am so excited and feel so blessed to have found an open position in the middle of the school year! I can't believe that I will actually have my own classroom AND get paid for my work! YES, FINALLY!!!

As many of you know, Doug has been working very hard to apply to several medical schools around the country. Drum roll please...................Doug has been accepted into medical school!! He has been lucky enough to have a few interviews, and we are still waiting to hear back from some of the schools. So far we have been accepted into Des Moines University in Iowa, which happens to be one of Doug's top 2 choices for med school. We are extremely excited. He has also had an interview with University of Utah, and we are still waiting to hear back from them. At this point it looks like we will be moving to Iowa near the end of the summer. We feel extremely blessed to have been accepted on our first try. What an accomplishment! I am so proud of Doug! We will keep you posted on med school news in the future.

We have a new baby in the family. Jerry and Kim had a little baby girl. Maddie Leone Cook (I'm still not sure on the spelling!) was born Sunday, October 14th. She weighed a little over 9 lbs. and was 21 inches long. As you can see from the pictures, Kimmy was supplementing the vitamins with rogaine! LOL :) Enough of the talking, here are some pictures!

The old Maple tree...

We woke up to snow this morning, really wet and heavy snow! Can you believe what it did to the old maple tree?! I have to tell you the story behind it though... Uncle Robert had gone out to try and get some of the snow off of the branches, because he could see how heavy the snow was, and he knew how brittle the branches were, he had pulled the ladder out and was shaking the branches, he had a thought that he should move, and he did, only seconds later the branches came crashing down! Aunt Renee' & Krystal heard the branches snapping and rushed to the window, they had seen Robert there only seconds before and it gave them quite a scare! They thought it had fallen on him! Aren't we lucky to have the spirit guiding us through each and every day?!

I made this tutu for Brooklyn the other day, it was super easy and I think it turned out pretty dang cute! She will wear it all day long if I let her! Let me tell you it was a challenge taking this almost-two year olds picture, but after I stopped trying to get the "perfect" pose and let her just run around being her busy self, haha! I think I got some pretty cute pictures. They definitely don't look professional, but I had fun taking them and I like the way they turned out.

Marissa Made The Front Page Of The Miami Herald!!

The Miami Herald Newspaper came to our church to do an article on the new black mormon bishop. As the reporters were interviewing him, they spotted Marissa (we were there for mutual). The lady said she's never seen a more beautiful or angelic child, and asked if she and the bishop associated and how we could get her in a picture. Bishop suggested we sing and read scriptures together, and we could do a picture like that. Marissa pipes up,"I can sing the first Article of Faith!" So, she sang it, and this is the picture of it. The Miami herald covers the entire miami/Ft. Lauderdale metro--a lot of people!! and Marissa made the cover! I'm going to copy in the article--I know you don't know our bishop, but it may give you a taste of our world here.

Convert leads local Mormon church as bishop
Davie resident Fred Bethel was recently appointed a bishop in the Mormon church. No one who knows him is surprised -- but the path to his success was a difficult one.

From life as a Southern Baptist to one as a Mormon, Bishop Fred Bethel has always been focused on the Almighty.
Bethel, 36, lives in Davie with his Jamaican-born wife, Scherrie, and teaches mathematics at Madie Ives Elementary School in Miami Beach by day. By night he serves his 600-member congregation at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Fort Lauderdale.
Being named bishop of the Mormon church in February was a surprise for Bethel because of his relatively short history with the church; he has only been a Mormon for six years. Another surprise lies closer to the common belief that the church traditionally is white-only. Bethel is African American.
''I think one of my roles is to expose this to the African-American community and defuse this idea that Mormons don't like black people, because that is so far from the truth. I see the missionaries go into neighborhoods I'd think twice about,'' Bethel said. ``There are a lot of people of color in this church, but they aren't necessarily African American. They are from the islands and from Haiti.''
There are 6,000 practicing Mormons in Haiti, according to Bethel.
The tall, quiet man who can frequently be found with children gathered around him grew up in Carol City in a one-parent home. His mother frequently went without so the children could eat.
His upbringing, Bethel said, although filled with love and with the Baptist church as the centerpiece, was very different from what he sees in his current congregation.
''Coming from the inner city, I've seen things in the family structure within the Mormon lifestyle I've never seen growing up,'' he said. ``They are so beautiful to me. Moms and dads and the family home meetings and the purity of it, they keep it wholesome. It's just a beautiful thing to see.''
Charlton Young, 35, grew up with Bethel and now is a basketball coach at Georgia Tech. He credits his success to Bethel and the guidance he gave when the two were in high school together.
''We're from the heart of the city, born and raised, inner-city Miami,'' Young said. 'We saw South Beach on TV and said `Is that Miami?' We never got out there.''
Young and Bethel went to Miami Carol City Senior High School, where those who ''make it out'' usually are athletes, Young said.
Bethel made sure that both he and Young went a step further.
''Fred was a baseball player, but most of all he was a tremendous student, he was student government president -- and that wasn't the cool thing in our neighborhood,'' Young said. ``Cool was either you were an athlete or you were selling drugs, but he had the ability to make the grades and do the right thing.''
Young credits Bethel's mother with rearing a righteous son.
''She refused to let the streets of Miami take her son. Guys who come out of our area aren't doing what we are doing,'' he said. ``When this materialized, him being a bishop, I wasn't shocked at all. I'm proud of him being a bishop because he didn't come from anything.''
Carl Haynie, 54, of Weston, is the state president of Broward County's Mormon church. A state is much like a parish, and represents 3,000 members.
Haynie was involved in the selection process that ultimately named Bethel as bishop. Like Young, Haynie was not surprised that the spirit moved them to appoint Bethel.
''He's a naturally gifted leader, and he works hard for it,'' Haynie said. ``He's always looking for the best in people, he's very positive and enthusiastic and I find him to be a man of great faith. When I used to see him in church I'd say, there's a bishop walking here, and I was right.''

Hey everyone! Well we have alot to catch up on...we are really going to try and be better at blogging. I miss knowing what everyone else is up to. :) We have had a crazy, fun & busy summer. I am going to post some pics from our Lake Powell trip, and the 4th of July. Zach couldn't come with us this year to Powell because of work so Heather & Krystal came in his place. Also I often feel like a blog hog, but I LOVE to blog, it's sort of like an online journal for me since I don't write in one, anyways I post alot more on this site so if you want to check it out feel free... www. zachhollyd.blogspot.com. I'll leave a little link on the right hand side of the blog too. ALso I just had to share the news.... I'm pregnant again! :) Well we just put our adoption papers back in... so it's another paper pregnancy... there are alot of pros though... no morning sickness, no weight gain. :) However I guess the downside is there isn't a due date. haha! :) Hope you are having a wonderful July!! Hey everyone! I just thought I would take a few minutes to update the blog and see how everyone else is doing. We don't get to see each of you enough! Before I fill you in on what's happening in our life, I thought I would be a proud aunt for just a minute :)

It has been so much fun coaching all of Marci's girls this year. We have so much fun together, and it has been fun to watch each of them progress and succeed. We had our last competition of the season on March 10th. Our gym hosted the competition, and Marci pretty much planned the whole event. She did a fabulous job and our teams all did really well!

Brianna is on our youngest team, the PeeWees, and her team took first at all of our competitions except one. Nicole is on both the youth and the juniors team. Her youth team took first at every competition, as well as, the Grand Champion award for the highest points overall. She also did a duet which took first. Megan is on both the junior team and the senior team. The junior team did very well this year, and their ending stunt was a huge crowd-pleaser! Megan also competed in the duet division and took first! Erica was on the senior team this year and did so well! She also competed in a jump competition and took first in her age division. Erica and Nicole aslo competed in a stunt group competition where they also took first. Aren't they awesome :)

As for Doug and I, we are doing great. This semester of school has really flown by. I have been doing my field experience teaching at Idaho Falls High School this semester, and I have absolutely loved it! I should be getting my student teaching assignment sometime next week, and I can't wait. I want to start teaching right now! Doug will be doing his medical research internship this summer. There is a good chance that he may have to go to Boise and I will have to stay here to finish up a few classes. It will be hard to be apart for so long, but we know that in the scope of things it is just a small moment in time. Doug is studying for his MCAT which he will take this spring. As soon as we get the word that he passed, we will start the long process of applying to medical schools. Both of us are scheduled to graduate from BYU-I this December. We are so excited!

We are doing well, and we appreciate the love and support that we feel from each of you. We hope things are going well and that you are all happy! Thanks for everything,

I just want everyone to know how lucky I am to have such a wonderful Mom. I know I wouldn't be where I am without her. She takes time to talk to me about all my worries (nearly every day). I do not know of anyone who shows more concern for others than her. This scripture in Mosiah defines the very essence of her:

Mosiah 18:9

Yea, and are willing to mourn with those that mourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places that ye may be in, even until death, that ye may be redeemed of God, and be numbered with those of the first resurrection, that ye may have eternal life—

She is always there to "mourn" and "comfort" all of us. She gives of herself selflessly each day. My mom is always upbeat. She trusts in the Lord and knows he will provide for our family.

When I get a little discouraged I think of my Mom's example and then everything gets better. I love the quote she has on her wall, "I can do hard things." I know she can. She raised me! I love you Mom. Happy Birthday. Ty

Sunday, February 18 was Alice and Dels 58th Wedding Anniversary. I'm sure Alice was thinking about Del and perhaps wondering if he was remembering her? She turned on Music and the Spoken Word. They sang the song..."Always"...which is Del and Alice's own special LOVE song.

Tears came to her eyes...a sweet tender mercy telling Alice once more that, yes, she is loved and remembered by her eternal companion....Always!

Thank you Heavenly Father for all your special ways of telling us that Thou are in the details of our lives....and mindful of us as we plod through this mortal journey.

Dip Party!

Jared and Kristen are always the life of the Party! They invited a bunch of the cousins up to there home last night for games and a "Dip Party" we all brought one of our favorite dips for snacking. We had such a fun time with each other laughing, visiting and playing games. Neal had a test and Zach had to work late. We wish everyone could have been there! Thanks to Jared & Kristen! We're Going to State!!

We have been attending a few basketball games the last few months. The JV team took second in district. The Varsity did the same. We had a play-in game today and won a berth into the State Championship Tournament this next week!! YES!!
The varsity team have also won for the second year in a row the State Academic Champions (the team with the highest combined GPA)!!

Truck for Sale! $5000

It's time for Annie and I to get a car so we're selling our truck and I thought I would give first dibs to family. It's a 1993 Toyota, 4x4, 125,000 miles, cruise control, CD player, newer tires. We bought it used with about 76,000 miles on it and it hasn't sputtered. It's been a great truck and it's hard for me to let it go. We're asking $5,000. Let us know if you're interested.

Catch Up

I didn't get much posted around the holidays (except the Eagle court) and then we had the blogger change that threw me off.

So now it is February but I still wanted to share a few shots of December. We got to enjoy Jason for a month before his return to school. He brought us some Brazil things. His report brought Grandma and Grandpa Ron this way so they got to hand deliver the ornaments to the great grandkids. We had a great Christmas and loved being at Chad and Annie's wedding.

I know Chad and Annie will be thanking all of you Bodilys as well, but as a Mama, I just want to add to that thank you for the money you sent them as a wedding gift. A stack of green backs is a perfect gift...it suits their taste...no take backs!

I know at Christmas it's kinda hard to "fork out some more!" But my how they appreciated it. I know one thing they bought which they needed was a vacuum.

We visited them this week end, actually went to the temple with them, and they are still smiling big and enjoying this new chapter in their life.

Chad works at the Church office building. He likes to tell people he is "in association with the General Authorities." Doesn't that sound better than "I do grunt work in the Church office building?" It is actually a very good job and he likes the feeling of bring home some income.

Annie is student teaching 3rd grade and is loving that age and what she is doing. I sure would like one of my grand kids to have her...she IS as Chad says, "Perfect in every way!"

We love you Bodily kids and appreciate your support in their marriage. Chad hasn't got internet in the little apt they are in now, but I'm sure he will share some pictures as soon as he can...on his blog.

As you know Alice will be turning 80 this year and we are going to celebrate with a party at the Rupert Bodilys home on Saturday, May 26, 2007.

We still have the Bodily Reunion to look forward to and plan for a couple weeks later....so what do you think?

Eagle Court of Honor

We recently had a court of honor for Michael. There were four other boys involved. Some are going off to school and missions so they hurried to do that before they left. It involved two from our troop and three from the other ward. It was a nice occasion. The speaker told us that four out of every 100 boys that enter scouting, earn the eagle rank. He told us that when his nephew went into the military, he got an automatic rank advancement because he was an Eagle scout. He (the speaker) also told us that he needed to hire someone for a position at work. It was narrowed down to two people, both qualified. The eagle rank was the deciding factor for choosing the one they did.
Four of the boys had younger brothers and they did the flag ceremony.

Michael joins the other Bodily's in the "Eagle's Nest". I think we have a happy scoutmaster in heaven with all of you Bodily eagles!!

Rhett Bodily is a very special boy!

I know, I can't believe it either...but my oldest grandchild is now 8 and was baptized Saturday.

I like the group shot of us in front of the font. It was very wonderful to be there. I enjoyed watching Redge with his boy...and you could certainly feel the love of a dad for his son.

We are all proud of Rhett. He is smart and handsome and obedient.

He loves to work!Redge told us that sometimes Rhett will be laying around not doing much and he is beside himself miserable! So they give him some jobs and after he "moans appropriately," he gets going on the task and pretty soon he's a whistling and just as happy as he can be!

Good for you, Mr. Rhettster...hard workers make good missionaries!!!!

Did you know that the gift of the Holy Ghost is the GREATEST of all gifts. I hope and pray that we can all remember what we have been given.

One more thing...when we first got there, and knocked on the front door, Rhett came running to open it and began jumping straight up and down about 10 times. He was so excited that we came. Sure makes a 'ole G ma feel good.

Snowman cheese ball

Snowman Cheese Ball

Prep Time: 15 min
Total Time: 1 hr 15 min
Makes: 16 servings, 2 Tbsp. each

1 container (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese Spread

2 cups KRAFT Shredded Cheddar Cheese

1/4 cup finely chopped fresh chives or green onions

1/4 cup PLANTERS Slivered Almonds, toasted

1/4 tsp. ground red pepper (cayenne) or to taste

1/4 cup KRAFT 100% Grated Parmesan Cheese

peppercorns

1 baby carrot

MIX cream cheese spread, Cheddar cheese, chives, almonds and red pepper until well blended; cover. Refrigerate 1 hour.

DIVIDE mixture into 3 different-sized balls (1 small, 1 medium and 1 large). Coat with Parmesan cheese. Arrange on serving platter in a line to resemble a snowman lying down. (Largest ball should be at bottom of serving plate for base of snowman. Smallest ball should be at the top for head of snowman.) Decorate with peppercorns for the eyes and mouth. Add carrot for the nose.

SERVE with NABISCO Crackers and cut-up fresh vegetable dippers, such as carrot sticks and celery sticks.

Steve is 55 this month. Happy Birthday to a wonderful man! I can't believe I got such a goodie.

We thought we knew and loved each other when we got married 35 years ago...hah hah hah! The feelings I have for him now, are so much deeper and.... I guess mature...I never knew I could be so happy. I truly look forward to spending eternity with him.

Some of the things I really appreciate about him are:

The way he treats me. He is very kind and patient. He never belittles or makes fun of me in any way shape or form. He never chastises me for something I do wrong. (Like when I backed the car into a telephone pole and wrecked it.) He doesn't embarrass me in front of anybody ever.
I feel so safe with him and like I could tell him anything.

Some wives are afraid to pray in front of their husbands...I think that is so sad! But I realize that you have to feel a level of validation before you can really share your heart with the Lord in front of another person. Steve makes it easy for me to do that. We pray together every night. I'm so thankful I can do that.

Steve's highest priorty in life is me and the kids. He loves his family. He hasn't ever had alot of extra time to do things such as hobbies or stuff just for fun. (Between work and church...his free time is limited. ) However, if he could choose to do anything for a day, it would not be to go off and do his own thing...he would choose to be with his family. I think he would cut off his right arm, if he thought one of us needed it. We are upmost in his priority list.

Steve is good about letting me spend time with mom. He loves her, so no problem! He wants us to help her and honestly enjoys taking her along. He doesn't resent her company the least little bit. I'm so glad about that. He really loved and honored Dad too.He would say quite often, "Jack is my best friend."

Steve is very clean. I don't pick up after him. He likes our house to be pretty and clean and decorated. He is willing to spend money on house stuff. He says he enjoys it too. Isn't that such a cool thing for a wife? He also fixes things the minute they break. He has saved us hundreds and hundreds of dollars through our life, fixing things, quickly and perfectly. It's amazing to me how he knows how to maintain things in a home. Such a blessing!

Steve love the Lord. He loves to serve him and wants to do his very best. He spends alot of hour helping people. He doesn't take short cuts or skip interviews. He follows the hand book and is the keeper of the rules. He is very good with people. They like him. He cares about them and they can tell. He has had to handle some very delicate situations but with the help of the Lord, he has done it well.

One thing I've noticed is that it's hard for Steve to verbalize in writing what he wants to say. He just hates it. He hates to write. He just stares at the page and doesn't know how to even start! He stuggles to find the words to express himself.

However, when he lays his hands on someone's head, and with the authority of the Priesthood, the words just flow out of him. You can feel the Spirit and the words are there! I asked him once, how he does that when he can hardly write a thank-you note. He just shakes his head and says, "I don't know...the Lord helps me, I guess! " I can testify that He truly does! He has magnified him in this weakness and he is powerful!

I think he is so handsome. I fell in love with a man with dimples and they are still make my heart pitter pat! (He says they are a curse!) Not to me! ...I just love his big round head, dimpled cheeks and beautiful blue eyes. He reminds me of a prophet...so gentle and wise. MY favorite outfit on him is his suit and tie. Ruuuttt Roooo!

Steve can be an absolute blast! Like when the kids come home or around the grands...he is really alot of fun! I love it when he laughs and is able to relax and enjoy himself because he can think of fun things to do and say. He always has a fun trick or a story or an idea. (And it doesn't cost a dime...it's just creative!)

Steve is so easy to please with meals. He'll eat anything and makes me think I'm a good cook. (I'm not!) But he never complains...we could eat the same thing everyday of the week...and he says it's "fine!" He likes me to sit by him when he eats.

Steve doesn't expect anything of me. He doesn't walk in the house from work and say, "Well, what have YOU been doing all day?" If I'm sitting in my housecoat painting or have talked too much on the phone...he doesn't care. Sometimes I'll confess, "I wasted this day!" He'll say, "Good!" I desire to do my part and help lighten his load but on the days I goof off, he's 0kay with it. Can you believe it?

When Steve was called to be the Stake Pres 6 years ago I felt inspired to make this statement: "He's good when no on is looking!' And that is still the truth. He is just so completely good, through and through. He has complete integrity. He is very unselfish with all that he has. He cares about people. He works hard to provide for us. He is never too busy for hisfamily. He balances everything well.

He is my better definitely my better half! in fact, I wouldn't want to go on without him. When he is here, I am whole. Everything is better and has more purpose and meaning. He is my joy, my answer to prayer, my everything!

Happy Birthday!

It's Birthday Month for two special people!

Shay and Chad was born on very same day, four years apart.

Shay said that she thought Chad was the best present she ever got. She has mothered and loved him all his life. Chad respects her opinion and often turns to her to ask what girls are thinking about!

I love each of these kids so much! Shay brings with her a friendship with me which I cherish. She is such a good daughter and friend. She really understands me and is so good to talk to me. We can bop each other now and then and still know that the love is there, so "it okay!"

Shay is very on duty with being a full time dedicated and loving mother and is fulfulling her role very well. I'm esp. proud of her for choosing to be a mom and not a career girl. I can see the blessings of this choice in her boys.

She is talented in music and card making, speaking and organizing. She is excellent with handwork and sewing and anything that her her skinny little fingers work on. I like home made stuff she has given me...like cross stitch and cards.

She is very very well disciplined in what ever she sets her mind to, strict to a tee.

She keeps track of "stuff"...everybody's stuff in fact. I've called her before and asked her where something is in my house and she can tell me.

She knows how to live in a budget. She can talk herself in or out of buying anyting.

She is obedient to a T and has a strong testimony of the Gospel. She is righteous!
A covenant keeper. She abhors sin and evil.

She likes clean straight simple lines of design and has very good taste in what she creates and buys. She has class and style. I love whatever she picks out in her home or clothes.

She remembers the craziest things. She takes care of her stuff...like the pencil she used for all thru gradeschool to her clothes and personal possessions.

Shay likes everything to be clean and organized. She doesn't like change. She is a great RS teacher. Her worry button works good.

She is a real joy to me. I love her and wish her many more wonderful years!
Grandpa Jack called Shay..."Shay bug". He liked her to tell him the joke about the big mouthed bull frog. Gramps had a soft spot in his heart for ALL girdas, Shay included!

Jon is a perfect match for Shay....we love to go to their home. I'm very proud of them.

CHAD. How did you get the name Chaddy Boo? Boog? and the Duke?

Chad is such a great last child. He is the most undemanding, wonderful person to be with.

He is kind! mature, loving, senstitive to the Spirit, and spiritual. He is humble. He is patient

and considerate. He gets along with all ages. Everybody thinks Chad is their good friend. He

just makes you feel good. He doesn't critize anybody or anything...ever! He is appreciative of

everything and expects nothing. He "gets by"alot. He is careful with money. He's very

respectful of adults and authority. One of my favorite talents of Chad is his voice. I love to sit

by him in church and hear him sing tenor. He is also a good actor and film maker. He performs

well. He connects with the audience and wins you over immediately. Chad loves chicken

noodle soup and mashed potatoes and chocolate potato cake. He kept a fabulous journal on his

mission and served honorably. His eyes are lethal weapons. They suck you in and you just

can't resist! He loves to be with his family and watch BYU football. He is pure gold.

He has bought us tons of joy. He wants to be good and is good. He has some good memories

of fishing with G and G Hilter. They liked to take him because he was patient! (Still a strength

in his character!) Now, he has found the perfect companion. Happy days!

The girls and I spent a week at mom & dad's in early October. Brooklyn & Kate helped mom with some of her leaves and they also decorated the front porch for fall. We had fun spending time with everyone. Mom even sewed darling witch costumes for the girls. She spoils us.

We also took a drive up Little Cottonwood Canyon and rode the tram to the top of Snowbird. We were at 10,000 feet with snow! It was freezing but fun.

Halloween was fun this year with Kate. She kept saying, "the people give me candy, and they don't take my bag!" She is a riot most of the time and keeps us laughing.

I tried to include some other pictures but I kept getting error messages. I guess I'll try another day!

Wolverine Homecoming

Homecoming Week is a big event for our little town. The kids have activities all week at school. Friday is the big day with a coronation ceremony of the king and queen. Michael was on the court. Then they have a parade through town with all the teams, classes, band, and royalty. The grade school kids (dressed in red and white) line up and the teams jump off the floats and give them high fives. A pep assembly is held at the football field. That night is the homecoming football game with festivites. Football players can't be in the half time thing,so we had Bennett wear Michael's number and take his place that night. He got to sit on a cool car!

So You Think You Can Dance...

Wellll...we hope there are some other fans of "So You Think You Can Dance" out there. We got to go to the Live Tour to see the Top 10 contestants in Miami last night. (There are some perks of living down here!) It was soooo fuuuuun! We watched the entire season (for those of you that aren't famliar, it's like American Idol, but with dancing) and we were really rooting for the 4 LDS contestants in the competition--Benji, his cousin Heidi, Jamez, and Allison. The returned missionary, Benji, won the competition!! After the amazing 3 hour concert, we were walking to our car, and heard a big roar in the crowd--the top 10 came out to sign autographs, and we got to talk with each of them, and got pictures with ALL 10 of them!!!!!! So we thought we'd share...

Dearest Bodily Family!

Well, it's finally official. The cute girl you've been seeing at all our family get togethers is finally going to be part of the family! It took me awhile to convince her, but I finally got her and I consider myself the luckiest guy ever! I asked her today. As she was walking back from her class in the Hinckley building on campus I had previously rounded up 12 people who Annie didn't know and had them stationed in between the Hinckley and the Library (where I knew Annie would be going after class) with a rose each. As she made her way down from the Hinckley building she was recieving roses from random people. When she made it to the library, the last person to give her a rose also blindfolded her. I then came and got her and took her to my truck where we drove out to Beaver Dick Park and I knelt down and made it official. And she even said yes! I also made a film on my computer of the two of us and showed it to her after. The weather was perfect and it was just great! I'm on cloud 9. So we are getting married in the Bountiful Temple on December 27th. I'll be sending official invitations to you all. I'm the LUCKIEST ever!! Sure love you all.

We started off with Senior Powder Puff football with the two cutest cousins I know.

The Juniors and Seniors played each other and the juniors got totally wiped out by the Seniors. It was fun to watch.

We had our annual trip to Yellowstone, we actually got to stay in our friends family cabin in Island Park, and then we drove into Yellowstone for the day. Our goal was to see Bears and to take our family pictures, since they will be the last ones for awhile.
As you can see, we took our family pictures and also got a great close up shot of a grizzly. We also got to see a momma black bear and her two cubs, but for some reason, I am only allowed to put five pictures on this blog at a time. How do you guys put more than that on???? We could bore you to death with our Yellowstone pictures, heehee.

We had a great time, we watched home videos and munched out. We had some fun laughs at how silly these kids used to be, actually, they still are, only different.

Marissa turned 4 on the 8th of September. We had a fun little party for her. We also had a pioneer celebration in our ward, and I had fun making costumes. Chandler and Marissa are growing and learning like crazy, and Ty is doing well in school.

RAK Reunion

We decided it was time to start on a small scale our family reunion, like some of you have. We realize that we are only going to grow bigger and need to get that established. While all were around before college started, we spent a day together. We hiked our hill, and had our morning devotional there and a "breakfast picnic". We set up our 100' slip and slide down the hill. It was a big splash! We also made "master tonic" for all of us to have in our storage. We enjoyed each other's company, played, and ate yummy food!!

While Jared and Kristin were here into the next week, they harvested tomatoes and we canned all one day. We have enjoyed a great garden this year. Randy loves to "unwind" out there, weeding and tending it.

We had a fun hiking day with Jared and Kristen the day before Labor Day. We were sure glad they were following us when our pick-up died going over Galena. They were troopers and stuck with us. What great kids.

It was quite a hike but worth it once we got there.

Wonderful Morning

Wow, what a rewarding morning it was for Eric and I. We spent a wonderful morning in the Temple in Idaho Falls while Andrew took out his endowments. What a neat experience to witness your own child go through the temple. I hope we get to experience that with each one of our kids. The only word that describes it right now is WOW!

Our temple President and Matron are John and Jean Groberg. President Groberg is the one that wrote " The Other Side of Heaven" We were the only missionary going through our session, not even any brides, that was amazing. So we had one on one talks with this amazing couple. Pres. Grobergs brother Joe was also in the temple this morning working, he happened to be my bishop when I was about twelve years old in Denver, which he and his wife also happened to have been called some years ago to be the Mission President for the Peru Lima South mission. Andrew and Eric were able to visit with Joe after they changed and got some advice from him for his mission. I must have my Eric write it down so I know what this advice was ; ^ ) before he forgets. It was an amazing morning.

Salsa Recipe

Hey Bodily Fam!

Since this is the time of year to harvest our gardens and all the ingredients to make fresh salsa are in season I thought I would share this yummy Salsa Recipe. It is the best I have ever had!

12 Cups chopped tomatoes
3 Onions chopped
4 Green peppers chopped
2 T. Salt
3/4 Cup white vinegar
2 tsp. Pepper
1/2 tsp. Garlic salt

Add sugar to taste, start with 2 tsp. You can also puree all the ingredients depending if you like your salsa chunky or not. I puree mine.

Just thought I'd pay a little tribute to Heather. I'm feeling sad, but excited for Heather. My baby girl with big beautiful blue eyes is a SENIOR! She has enjoyed Ballroom for 2 years, cheerleading, Choir, and mostly socializing, she has many friends, because she is kind and loyal. She has a flare for fashion. Her sisters ask her opinion all the time, and she loves to do hair and make-up. When she graduates, she is planning on going on to Cosmetology school in Rexburg. Perfect fit for her. She is making good choices! She makes us proud & we all love her!

Scout Camp & World Series

The last two weeks have been busy with Baseball, Scout camp, girls camp, dance camp, and the World Series in Logan. This was a good year for the Bodily Boys. Andrew and Aaron were on Staff, Andrew was a commissioner, Aaron a counselor. Eric took his troop, which Tanner and Ben are a part of. During the week, Ben had to go back down to Rigby three nights in a row to play baseball, they were playing for the chance to go to the World Series in Logan, Utah. They ended up taking second place, the top two teams got to go to Logan.

The last night up at camp, Eric won the Scout Master Belly flop contest, you should ask him about it at the reunion.

Ben and a couple of the boys on his team, Tuesdays game got rained out, so Eric and I got the chance to go to the Logan Temple. We drove Ben by it later that night, he said it looked like a castle. What a pretty temple.

Bens team, The Ammon Knights, I thought that was a pretty cool name for a team. They ended up playing the other Idaho Falls team in the semi finals. This team (Westside) has beat us all three times that we played them, they always beat us by one point, so naturally we were a little concerned about what would happen. Our boys were able to pull it off, what a high tense game, we beat them by one point 7-6. As far as were were concerned that was our victory game. We then got to go on to play for 1st or 2nd place. We had too many errors, so ended up with 2nd place. They had five games to play and won 4 out of the 5. They did and awesome job.

Jessica had girls camp the week we went to Logan, and a dance camp. Aaron had to work, they worked in Grand Teton National Park for the week. Andrew and Tanner went up to Scout camp to work. So it was just Eric, Ben and Linda that got to go to Logan. Amazingly we even got to see Torrey in Logan for a few minutes. He was driving right next to us when we noticed him, so we pulled over and talked for a bit. Small world.

Remember Camp Ylidob?

Our little family got together and had a blast this last week end. With the Indian theme of Camp Ylidob and some feather earning feats, ole Chief Sitting Bull taught the grands about choosing the right and being warriors made strong by obedience to parents and the prophet. We had such a great time. I love this family more than words can say. How did I get so lucky?

Awesome Family Trip

We took a great family trip in July. We drove to central California and saw the bay area (Oakland Temple), Lombard street (the crooked one), the bay brideges, and did Six Flags Marine World Theme Park. Then we went up the coast seeing beautiful redwoods, ocean, and scenery. One place was Crescent City (with a lighthouse, Renee!). It was partially wiped out by a tsunami in 1964 when the Alsakan earthquake happened. Then we came inland through the corner of Oregon visiting Oregon Caves National Park and stunning Crater Lake. It was a memorable time with four of our boys!!

Oh the long awaited day, seems like nothing else could go on while waiting for the papers, finally they have arrived, and we took them up to Treasure Mountain Boy Scout camp where Andrew is a commissioner for the summer. He was so excited, and nervous.
Get excited, Get excited, Get excited............Billings Montana................really? No, we played a joke on Andrew, we didn't let him wait too long.
Aaahhh, the real call, where is Andrew going to go???? We had not even a clue.
Keeping everyone in suspence, I guess we deserved it. You are hereby called to serve in the Peru Lima South mission to speak the Spanish language. We were so excited for him.
Congratulating Andrew. He goes into the MTC on October 25 and is in Provo for 3 weeks and then leaves for the MTC in Peru for 6 weeks.

We just wanted everyone to know the good News, we are so proud of Andrew and how hard he has worked to get where he is today. We Love Him.

Hello Bodily family! We decided we would share a few pictures from our family trip to Twin Lakes last weekend. It was so much fun! Our family had 100% there! Thanks to Jerry and Kim, we were able to have a boat up there this year and it was so much fun! The kids kept Jerry driving the boat almost non-stop! We also had an exciting thing happen when we found that there was a raccoon's nest in a tree next to our camp filled with baby raccoon's! They were so cute! We had so much fun and can't wait to do it all again next year!

Hey family. How exciting all the treking, dental missions, weddings. It is so fun to see what everyone is up to. I just thought I'd post a little about Brooklyn's sealing and blessing and say thank you to all who were apart of it, whether it was in thought or physically, you all mean so much to us. Brooklyn's birthfamily came up and was able to be with us at this special time too. They are one incredible family. We owe everything to them. In this first picture Brianna Brooklyn's birth mom is the blonde. Here is also Grandma & Grandpa Bodily at the blessing with Brooklyn. Zach gave a beautiful blessing. I was so proud of him. The priesthood is such a blessing in our lives. And last is a picture of Brooklyn at Lake Powell. We just spent a week there. Warm water, fun with Zach's family and many memories. We love you all.

Yummy recipe!!!

We made this recipe at the lunch after Brooklyn's sealing. Holly gave it to me, and people loved it so much, I thought it would be nice to share. When Deena shared her apron pattern, I thought it would be fun to share some recipes. Some of the guys might roll their eyes, but some guys cook more than the ladies! Robert's a better cook than I am.

Awesome Spinach & Artichoke Dip

1 can (14 oz) artichoke hearts, drained, finely chopped.
1 pkg. (10 oz) frozen chopped spinach, thawed, drained.
3/4 cup Parmesan Cheese
3/4 cup Real Mayo, ( I like Best Foods best)
1-2 cups Mozzarella Cheese
1/2 tsp. garlic powder

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients until well blended.
Spoon into 9 inch pie plate or small shallow baking dish.
Bake 20 min. or until heated through.

Serve with veggies, crackers, or tortilla chips.

This June me and about 10 other student dentists went to Fortaleza Brasil on a dental mission. It was a great experience. I was able to work along side a dentist from West Palm Beach almost the whole time. We learned a lot and we were able to help quite a few people. I was also able to go visit some people I knew when I was a missionary there. I love the Brazilian people.

Trekkers have returned!!

We have returned from Martins Cove, what a neat experience. This is our family, the kids were all divided up and had different Ma's and Pa's for three days. We all had at least 4 boys and 6 girls in our groups. What a learning experience.

We had about 650 youth and and Ma's and Pa's and other leaders from our stake that went, the missionaries there said that we were the biggest group they have had this year, and they were surprised at how well behaved the kids were and that they could feel the spirit with such a big group, they say that you usually better to have smaller groups, our stake presidency felt the need to take the youth on this trek, all the youth 12 and up. When we were spread out on the trail our stake had a two mile train, it was incredible.

This was our camp, the back 1/4 of the campground was a different group from Utah, the rest was our stake, it was very dry and desolate out there, we will be coughing sand and dust out of our lungs and cleaning out the sinuses for at least a good week.There is dust and sand in everything, amazing.

Each family had a baby that they were supposed to take care of on the trek, this is Jessica and her baby brother Peter Kirkham, he lived until they were just outside the valley. This was one of the hardest parts to me. When the family was told that their baby had died they would have a little memorial on the trail, wrap the baby up and leave it on the side of the trail, and the stake leaders at the end would pick up the babies. It was hard to see those little bundles on the side of the trail (even though they were just dolls) Everybody on the trek had an actual pioneer name, even the dolls.

This is going into Martins Cove, it was a lot bigger than I imagined, it was very peaceful there, I wished that we could have had more time to spend there and ponder and pray, but with 650 people, that was one of the downfalls of so many people, we felt like we had to rush out of there.

Resting on the trail, getting off of our feet was always a pleasure, this day we trekked about 14 miles, definately a tough day for all involved.

Crossing the Sweetwater, Ben is being carried across by one of his 'brothers'. The cold water sure did feel good on our warn out feet, too bad we couldn't just linger in the water a little longer.
Unfortunately I just don't have all night to write about our trip, it was hard, but rewarding, I just couldn't imagine the full extent of what the pioneers had to go through, we had great weather, a little too hot at times, but we still had a breeze or gusts at times to help cool you off.

This last picture is Andrews missionary picture that we are sending in for his mission, he wanted us to include it with this blog. Hopefully the medical papers will all be turned in by the doctors, he will be able to submit on July 2. We will let everyone know.

Randy had business in IFall on Wednesday, so I rode with him and joined in Mom's birthday celebrations.
Some of the activities were lunch at Smitty's, dinner with Mike and Bernie, stop at Rob and Renee, visit the cemetery. It was fast but so fun to spend some time with the best mom!!
(Randy had to try the "Randy Burger" from the menu, as did Eric-reports are it was good)

Well, we're not sure who is holding who in this picture, but we do know that Marissa is a big helper, and we think she's cute even when she's mad.
We had a fun Easter this year--Marissa and mommy love making things together. Marissa can be a daddy's girl too, though, always looking for an excuse to snuggle. She's quite the little photographer-she took this picture of me all by herself--"Mommy, I want to take your picture, JUMP!!!" and this is what we got! We started working on the articles of Faith and she has the first 2 memorized already. She is such an awesome, protective, helpful big sister to Chandler. We adore both of our kids! It's been so long since we've posted anything and most of you have never met Chandler, so I'm gonna splurge!!!Chandler is one today-- on Mother's Day--he is such a JOY. He is climber, and daredevil, but very sweet and mellow and smiley. He can walk now and just got his first big boy shoes! He loves to eat, and weighs nearly 25 pounds (no wonder I have tendonitis in my wrist and popped a rib out of place picking him up!) He can say da-da and ma-ma, and he adores his sissy. He has 7 teeth that get inspected a lot by his dentist-to-be-daddy. Ty hopes he's a football player for BYU. Love you all and please forgive me for bragging...Kyla

Happy Mother's Day - Barb

Hey Mom, I knew you would be checking this first thing this morning and so I wanted to be the first kid to tell you Happy Mother's Day and to make sure everyone knows how much I love the moms (Grandma Alice, Barb, and Cyndee) in our family.
I think one of the things all of us kids love about you, Mom, is your ability to lift us up and help us feel like we can conquer the world. All we have to do is hang out with Mom and Dad one Sunday afternoon and listen to them talk to each of us kids (over the phone) ... "you can do it" "we support you 100%" "we are right with you" etc...
For me, I always appreciate being able to call Mom while I am on the road. Sometimes I blame it on the fact that I am sleepy and need someone to talk too but I really enjoy the uplift you give, Mom. When Cyndee and I lived in Rupert, when someone in the ward was sick in the hospital, I can't remember who, I remember you going in there on a regular basis and showing your love and support to them. Someone in the ward asked me why my mom always seems to be helping people in need, and I told them that she does that for everyone she loves including me. Many people tell me of the many nice things that my mom has done for them. I hope I can be that way when I grow up. Mom I love you. Thanks for being such a great example and influence in my life. Happy Mothers Day!

Angie is taking out her endowment on Friday, June 9th, at the 6:00 pm session.

Brooklyn is being sealed on Saturday, June 10th at 12:30.

Angie & Neal's sealing is in the Idaho Falls Temple, Friday, June 16th at 9:30am. (Reception that night 5:00 or 6:00.)

We are still planning on going to the Smith reunion on Saturday, June 17.

We hope anyone who wants will still be able to attend both the sealing and the Smith reunion. Just stay the night here and head out in the morning to Utah. If you can't do the sealing/reception don't worry, we know you can't do it all.

Angie Is Engaged!!! (Here is the Scoop)

It is official!

Last Night 10th of May Neal asked Angie to Marry Him and Gave her a ring.

(This is all the guys need to know)

Now for the Girly details

Neal & Angie went to the green belt to do their scripture study.
He gave her a Book of Mormon for Latter Day Saint Families, engraved "Neal & Angie Guymon" and said he was sorry it is taking so long to get the ring and hoped this would make up for it and buy him a little time.

Then they walked down to the river and Neal had carved their names in a stump. He said I was going to carve the word Forever under our names but thought he should make it official first. He knelt down on one knee pulled out the ring and asked the big M question & she gave the big Y answer.

They are going to go this weekend and carve "Forever" in the stump.

They have set the date for Friday June 16th (YES this year) with the reception maybe in our yard? So we will be busy but look forward to seeing everyone that can come.

We couldn't be happier! Neal is a Super Guy as you will find out as he becomes part of our family.
